Teaching and Learning of Gender in Medicine

The GIM of the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin offers a variety of courses in the Model Study Program Medicine and the Bachelor Study Nursing Program. In addition, the GIM is involved in the development of the Bachelor of Midwifery Science. We also offer courses on selected topics outside the Charité.

Course modules

The GiM is responsible for coordinating the course module, “Introduction to Gender Differences In Medicine” for all students in the first semester, and additionally ‘Module 35’, which offers three lectures on gender-specific differences in medicine.

Dissertations at the GiM

The GiM is constantly offering dissertation topics. These are predominantly in the areas of biochemistry, biological basic research of gender differences or aspects relating to veterinary medicine. Furthermore, the GiM also offers doctoral work in the fields of gender research, prevention research in clinical studies, and implementation research.

The GiM also offers doctoral work in the context of the German Centre for Cardiovascular Diseases (DZHK). There are also opportunities to apply here for doctoral bursaries.
