Our team is heavily involved in promoting the integration of gender into education and research.
We are convinced, that sex and gender differences ought to be part of the medical curriculum in order to be implemented in clinical medicine. This should happen through mandatory and elective courses. Further options for acquisition of gender knowledge are master studies. In this context, GiM and six partner universities organized in 2009-2011 the module "Gender Medicine". The follow-up of this project the Master Module 2012 "Gender Medicine".
Gender medicine and gender-specific research in general are becoming increasingly relevant in Germany and internationally and we are very pleased to collaborate with several of these institutions.
The GiM coordinates the course module "The introduction to gender differences in medicine" for all students in the 1st Semester, as well as module 35, with three lectures on gender-specific differences in medicine.

Dissertations at the GiM
The GiM is constantly offering dissertation topics. These are predominantly in the areas of biochemistry, biological basic research of gender differences or also aspects relating veterinary medicine. Furthermore, the GiM also offers doctoral work in the fields of gender research, prevention Research in clinical studies, and implementation Research.
The GiM also offers doctoral work in the context of the German Centre for Cardiovascular Diseases (DZHK). There are also opportunities to apply here doctoral bursaries.
