The EU project "European Gender Medicine Network" (EUGenMed) is run by Charité Universtitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany), University of Maastricht (Netherlands) and the European Institute of women's health (Dublin, Ireland). EUGenMed was launched on 1st October 2013 and is funded by the European Commission.
EUGenMed will produce an innovative roadmap for implementation Sex and Gender (S&G) in biomedicine and health research and create a European Gender Health Network. To achieve these objectives, we are organizing a kick-off conference in Brussels with key stakeholders to develop a strategy for four planned EUGenMed workshops in 2014. The results from the four workshops will input into the development of a roadmap for the implementation of S&G in biomedical and health research in Europe.
In a one day kick-off conference EUGenMed partners and invited discussants will meet in Brussels to assess the status quo of Gender Medicine (GM) in Europe and to develop a roadmap for the further implementation of sex and gender in European health care and biomedical research. The resulting roadmap will be communicated in 2015 to the leading European bodies in biomedical research planning and represent a strategy how to implement Gender medicine in Europe.
Participants in Brussels will consist of 50 to 80 persons, including consortium members and invited external experts. It is our aim to contact as many stakeholders in gender medicine as possible, involve them in the conference and invite them to contribute.
The kick-off conference is taking place in Brussels on 7th April 2014 at 10 am, located in the CDMA building.
